Biography

Lamers ICM Consultancy bv is a limited company according to Dutch law. Since January 2007 the company is registered in the chamber of commerce under no 37130046.

Josee J.M. Lamers is the founder and principal director. She is dedicated to labour relations and labour law, particularly on the European and international dimensions. Josee has extensive experience in these fields, particularly the last ten years.

From 1995 to 1999 she developed and coordinated the post graduate courses on European labour Relations and Collective Labour Agreements at the Sinzheimer Institute of the University of Amsterdam. Her study in law was accomplished with a publication about co-determination in concerns. The novelty was that it bridged the gap between the workers’ rights in labour law and those in company law with a focus on its applicability in multinational companies. Being attracted by the European dimension of labour relations, she focussed next on European Works Councils as a legal scientist and senior researcher. The next publication in 1998 was about European Works Councils, about the legal framework and the practice in 18 Dutch groups. Here she introduced the concept of the Added Value of European works councils. This concept soon passed the Dutch borders and became well known in the European community of social partners, European business and the European Commission. From 1999 until 2007 she worked at the employers’ association AWVN in the Netherlands. Her former position of Secretary international affairs developed in 2003 into that of a program coordinator international affairs and was accompanied with a separate unit in the top of the organisation. She developed various European employers services, wrote publications, gave training and works shops, cared for position papers about European topics and represented the organisation at international meetings. She chaired two networks of multinational companies: one focussed on European Works Councils and the other one on European Labour Relations.
Albeit a lawyer, with a clear view on the European social and company law, she put gradually more emphasize on constructive (European) labour relations as a key and flywheel for both management and employees to cope with external international restructuring and internal on going change processes: “Going from a (legal) procedure approach towards a communication process approach”.
